From the Heart of Jesus

 IN THE SILENCE

“He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.  Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.  The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.  Selah.”

Psalm 46: 9 - 11
King James Version

How many times have we prayed and asked God for help with something and then wondered why we didn’t hear Him talking to us?  It is our own fault.  It is impossible for us to hear God talking to us when we have the television turned up and the radio blaring that loud rock and roll music that stinks in His nostrils and brings shame to Him.  This verse should be the heart’s desire of every Christian “Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day”(Psalm 71: 8).

Have you ever wanted to have a conversation with your children but was unable to do so because of the radio blaring?  We do the same thing to God.  He desires to talk to us but we are unable to hear Him because our minds and our attention are somewhere else.  We allow the same thing to happen in church.  When the pastor is preaching the sermon, instead of focusing on what the pastor is saying our minds are wandering.  We wonder if we are going to beat the crowds to our favorite restaurant after church.  We also think about the football game that is going to be on television.

How we must break the heart of our loving and compassionate  Heavenly Father.  He loves us so much and He so desires to fellowship with us but we are much more interested in pursuing our own interests and our own pleasures.  May God have mercy on us!  After all that He has done for us and continues to do for us every day of our lives, it is not asking too much of us to give Him the time that He so rightly deserves.  We should be eager to spend time with the one who loves us so much that He gave us His beloved Son to be crucified on a cruel cross of horror and agony for our sins.  I think just as He asked Adam in the garden “Where art thou?” He asks us the same thing.  “And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou”(Genesis 3: 8)?

Are you spending time with God every day?  If so, how much time do you give Him?  If we are spending more time watching television than we spend with Him, we are breaking His heart and we have allowed the television to become an idol to us.  If you will be quiet and listen with your heart, you will hear Him saying to you in the silence “I love you.  I have missed you so much.  I long to fellowship with you.  Share your heart with Me and I will share My heart with you.”
