DID WE DO IT
“And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
Luke 14: 23
King James Version
There are millions of people in this world who are lost in their sins and on their way to hell for all eternity. Our compassionate and loving Saviour has commanded us to go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in that His house may be filled and that they may feel His unconditional love for them. Are we doing what He commanded us to do? Did we do it today? Did we urge people to come to Jesus? It is not enough to invite people to church. We must love them to Jesus through our words and especially through our actions.
If they don’t know that Jesus loves them and that He loves them unconditionally, they will have no desire to turn from their sinful ways, repent and accept Him as their personal Saviour. How will they know that He loves them? They will know by our words and by the way we treat them. Every Christian is an ambassador for Jesus. One of the definitions for “ambassador” in Webster’s Dictionary is “an authorized representative or messenger.”
When the cleansing atoning blood of Jesus was applied to our hearts for the forgiveness of our sins, we became authorized representatives and messengers for Jesus. We have been given a mandate by our Saviour to spread His unconditional love to everyone we meet. It is only as the people who are lost without Jesus see the joy and happiness in our lives that they will want the same joy and happiness in their hearts.
Peter Scholtes wrote the inspiring and beautiful song “They’ll Know We Are Christians by Our Love”. The words he wrote are so true “And they’ll know we are Christians by our love.” When people are talking about us to their loved ones and friends, do they say “That person is a Christian?” May God forgive us if we fail to be the ambassadors for Jesus as He has commanded us to be! One day every one of us will stand before a Holy God and give an account of the way we treated His beloved Son. Did you urge someone to come to Jesus today?
