From the Heart of Jesus

A BLANKET OF LOVE AND WARMTH

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in him will I trust.  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Psalm 91: 1 - 4

King James Version

We had another cold day yesterday in Pensacola where I live.  As I was walking to the mailbox yesterday afternoon wearing three shirts and a coat and trying to stay warm, I still felt the cold air.  The thought came to me that no matter how cold it is outside or even if the heat was to go out in my home, God covers my heart with His blanket of love and warmth and no cold air reaches my heart.

Not only does He keep my heart warm with His compassion, His understanding, His forgiveness, and His unconditional love, He puts a blanket of protection over me from the weather and from my enemies.  It doesn’t matter how cold it is outside or how many arrows of criticism and sarcasm are hurled at us by satan, our dear Heavenly Father covers us with His feathers of warmth and protection.

I received an email yesterday from someone who asked me if I was married and if I had my husband’s permission to write these devotions.  In the first place, I do not give out personal information to a man on the advice of one of my dear pastor friends.  In the second place, if God tells me to do something, I will do it.  I did not reply to that email.  I deleted it and blocked the sender of the email.

I recognized that email for what it was.  It was another sneaky and vicious attack from satan.  It was just another attempt to try and discourage me from serving Jesus.  However, Jesus is my shield and my buckler and my protector.  Once again satan lost the battle as he always will lose the battles.  Jesus has already defeated satan on the cross when He died for us.

The war has already been won through the precious cleansing and atoning blood of Jesus but as long as we are in this world we will have battles with satan.  We need to stay on guard all the time because when we least expect it, satan will attack us any way that he can and he will sometimes use the people who are the closest to us to discourage us.

If today your heart is cold and lonely, allow our dear Heavenly Father to cover you with His feathers of unconditional love and warmth.  His heart is full of compassion for you and He longs to take away all of your heartaches.  Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your concern for us and for Your blanket of love and warmth.  Amen.
