From the Heart of Jesus

BE OBEDIENT

“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?  Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

1 Samuel 15: 22
King James Version

Last year, God woke me up out of a sound sleep at three in the morning and told me to check my email.  Thank God that I was obedient to do so because someone had sent me an email who was planning to commit suicide.  This person told me in the email “I don’t want to live.  It hurts too much.  I am going to kill myself tonight and I just wanted to say goodbye to you because you have been so kind to me.”

I prayed and then emailed the person back and shared this with the person.  “I am so glad that you emailed me because many years ago I was at the place that you are right now.  I had no desire to live because it was too painful.  I tried to take my life seven times but God always rescued me in time.  Please call your pastor or someone you trust and share with them what you told me.”  Thank God that the person did call the pastor and received help and did not commit suicide.

For those of you who have been on my mailing list for a long time, you know that I spent over forty years off and on locked up in mental hospitals because I was highly suicidal and in a severe devastating depression.  On the day that I was determined to kill myself, I had crawled underneath my bed in the mental hospital because I was afraid of everyone and everything.

On that day which I thought was the darkest day of my life, the Saviour of the world came to me when I couldn’t go to Him.  He lifted me up from under that bed and sat me on His lap.  He whispered softy and tenderly in my ear “I love you, Joanne.  I won’t let anybody hurt you again.”  What a Saviour!  What a friend, this Jesus of Nazareth!  There is no one like Jesus.  No one loves us like Jesus and our Heavenly Father love us.  What a privilege to be loved by the Saviour of the world.

Are you being obedient to do what God lays on your heart to do?  Jesus has told all of us who claim to be Christians that we are to tell everyone we meet about His unconditional love for them.  One day every one of us will stand before a Holy God and He will ask us “Why didn’t you spread the unconditional love of My Son to people?”  May God have mercy on us if we fail to spread the unconditional love of Jesus!

I don’t know what is going on in your life today.  I don’t know what heartaches you have. I don’t know what burdens you are carrying but I do know the one who can take them away and give you peace, happiness and joy and His name is Jesus!  Run into the waiting arms of Jesus and allow Him to rock you tenderly in His arms and comfort and encourage you.  He is waiting for you with His arms outstretched and a heart full of unconditional love and compassion.  Don’t wait any longer!  Run as fast as you can into the loving arms of our precious Saviour.
